Tragedy and comedy are sometimes more closely related than we realise - and comic Sophie Willan has mastered the art of this in her new TV show.
Alma’s Not Normal, which airs on Tuesday and has been filmed exclusively in her hometown of Bolton, somehow manages to make some pretty dark issues funny - while importantly not sugar coating them.
Willan plays the main character Alma Nuthall who, after an awkward experience at the job centre where she finds out that making sandwiches is her only career option, decides to take matters into her own hands.
