Greater Manchester is bracing for a difficult weekend after the Met Office issued warnings amid Storm Darragh. Yellow and amber warnings are in place over the next couple of days across the North West, with a rare red warning cover parts of south west England and Wales.
Disruptions are expected, with the Met Office warning that there is a 'slight chance' that power cuts will occur and that the high winds may cause 'injuries and danger to life'.
Thursday evening saw widespread travel disruption across the region due to heavy rain and strong winds. Flood alerts are currently in place, including along a long stretch of the River Irwell as it moves through Bury and Radcliffe.
An alert is also in place for the River Roch as it passes through the centre of Rochdale.
