All schools in England look set to open to all year groups at once from March 8, a Tory minister said today. Boris Johnson had been weighing up whether to send back primary and exam years first, like he did after last year's lockdown.
In Scotland and Wales, schools are starting the reopening process from today - two weeks earlier - but staggering year groups.
In England, however, government sources said the plan is now to return all year groups more or less at once in two weeks' time.
That is likely to infuriate unions, who have warned a non-staggered return seems "reckless". Union leaders today demanded to see evidence that the plan is sound.
