On Monday night, chefs, restaurateurs and food critics descended on the Midland Hotel in Manchester for the prestigious Michelin guide ceremony for Britain and Ireland.
Despite being on hosting duties, the city walked away empty handed. It's not all doom and gloom though, after all Mana in Ancoats retained its star and Stockport's Where The Light Gets In still holds its 'green' Michelin star for sustainability.
Flying the flag for the North, Cumbrian restaurants proved their star power on Monday night though, with Lake Road Kitchen in Ambleside and Cedar Tree by Hrishikesh Desai in Brampton picking up one each.
Of course, there's a host of Michelin-starred restaurants within just a couple of hours of Manchester too, whether that be Simon Rogan's cluster of restaurants in Cartmel in the Lake District, or Aughton, the tiny Lancashire village that became the Michelin-star capital with its four stars.
