'All of a sudden the plane just dropped' - Woman describes every traveller's worst nightmare as Manchester flight leaves 11 injured

A woman on a Manchester-bound plane where 11 travellers were injured during 'freak turbulence' has said the experience was 'so scary', adding the plane felt like it was 'just going to keep dropping'.

The woman said they'd been on the P&O Caribbean cruise charter flight from Barbados on Christmas Eve for about two hours before the 'unexpected' turbulence which she said 'felt like Oblivion at Alton Towers'.

Passengers were diverted and forced to stay in Bermuda after 11 people were transported to hospital due to injuries sustained during the incident.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News on Boxing Day, the passenger said the flight was 'sheer chaos'. "Then all of a sudden the plane literally just dropped." She said it was 'scary' because of how 'unexpected' the drop was, adding they had not been warned they were about to experience turbulence. "I had my belt on very loose, so I was okay but I did feel myself lift off the chair," she said. "It felt like you could have been pulled off the seat.
