All drivers risk being fined £70 for parking in the wrong place under a new law - and it doesn't matter if there's no double yellows.

Plans have been drawn up to dish out fixed penalty notices to those caught flouting the rules. If passed through Government, drivers could receive a £70 fixed penalty notice simply for parking on the street.

If drivers choose to park on a pavement to avoid blocking a narrow road or simply for convenience, they could be risking a £70 charge. The law around pavement parking is just one of many new driving laws coming into effect this year, and drivers who don’t obey could face both a penalty charge notice (PCN) and points on their licence.
