A family who has run a pub in Stockport for four generations has handed over the reins to new owners. The Davenport Arms, located on Chester Road in Woodford, has been in the Hallworth family for 91 years but has now been taken over by new owners.

Landlady Yvonne Hallworth, who has worked at the pub for 42 years, said it was ‘extremely emotional’ to be leaving the pub after so long.

Also known as the Thief’s Neck, the pub is described on social media as being ‘Woodford's most famous pub’ and located in a ‘gorgeous country setting’.

On TripAdvisor, the pub has a 4.5 rating and is a recipient of a Traveller’s Choice 2023 award.
