This Morning host Alison Hammond left her co-host Dermot O'Leary stunned as she revealed that she has appeared on the BBC soap Doctors. The 48 year old admitted that she has been on the long-running soap on two separate occasions quite a long time ago.

As This Morning looks ahead to the British Soap Awards this weekend show regular Sharon Marshall was on the set of Doctors talking about their nominations.

Once the segment was over and the camera returned to the studio Alison told Dermot, 50, that she was on the show before and after she appeared on Channel 4's Big Brother back in 2002.

Looking stunned Dermot quickly said: "Can we just take a moment, you've been in Doctors twice!" Alison replied to her co-host and said: "Yeah I've played two characters unrelated. "The first character I was like a kindergarten teacher..." Dermot was quick to reply and said: "That's a big part!" That wasn't the only revelation Alison shared as she said that producers on the show wanted her to smoke as part of her role.
