Alison Hammond admits blunder during royal meeting with Kate and William

It's been an eventful week for This Morning presenter Alison Hammond as she got to meet the Prince and Princess of Wales in her hometown Birmingham on Thursday.

Opening up about the encounter on Friday's episode of the popular morning show, Alison couldn't help but talk about her encounter with the royals, and also revealed the big blunder she'd made with Prince William.The 48-year-old explained to her co-host Dermot O’Leary: "I led [Prince William] down the stairs, holding his hand… and on the way down the stairs, I remember that I hadn’t done 'Your Royal Highness' or bowed. "So then I bowed, awkwardly on the stairs, holding his hand!" Dermot jokingly went on to ask if Alison had called the Prince of Wales, which she quickly denied.

She continued: "I just turned around to him and said, I'm on the stairs holding his hand. I went 'oh, I've forgotten to say your royal highness'" before she bowed while sitting down on the sofa. "And then he started to giggle as we were going down the stairs," she laughed.

She went on to explain how the pair had continued down the stairs where they started to play darts together. "Someone had put 'HRH' and he said 'that's you Alison'," Alison shared. "So I played as 'HRH'.
