Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Alfredo Morelos left Kyle Lafferty tearing his hair out as a Rangers supporter. But when Steven Gerrard handed the Northern Irishman the chance to become a team mate with the fiery Colombian he admits he took no time to realise the striker was actually a cut above.

Gone was the selfish streak which saw him shoot every time he received the ball within 30 yards of the opposition goal to be replaced with a razor sharp intellect and work rate in the final third.

Now, four-and-a-half years on from Morelos’ arrival in Govan, Lafferty is back observing his boyhood club from a distance and says the only thing hair-raising about the frontman is the prospect of him cutting short his love affair at Ibrox.
