Alexander Skarsgard is opening up about his brand new movie, The Northman, during a panel conversation held at 92Y on Thursday (April 21) in New York City.
The Northman, which also stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicole Kidman and Ethan Hawke, is out in theaters now. Click inside to check out what Alexander shared of the flick… While speaking with Entertainment Weekly in a separate interview, Alexander recalled working alongside Hafþór Björnsson, who is best known for playing the Mountain from HBO’s Game of Thrones. “He came out to set when we were shooting a scene, the first time you meet Amleth.
Hafþór wasn’t, obviously, working that day, but he came to set just to say hi to everyone. And, yes, I was intimidated,” Alexander admitted to the outlet.
He added, “Shaking Hafþór’s hand — I’m 6′ 4” — I was like [Skarsgård strains his head to look up], ‘Hi, sir. It’s a pleasure.’ His hand just dwarfed mine.” While Alexander stated that Hafþór is a great guy, there were definitely challenges of their fight scene in the movie. “He tried to go easy on me, but he still has to tap me lightly and I just went flying,” he says. “I was definitely quite sore after that week of filming.
