Alex Scott is the most in-demand star on TV after scooping a series of top presenting roles at the Tokyo Olympics as well as a daytime quiz.
BBC insiders also see the ex-England football star as a potential successor to Clare Balding or Gary Lineker. She will co-host coverage of the opening ceremony next week as well as the prime-time Today at the Games from 7.30pm.
Alex has also secured Football Focus, after taking over from Dan Walker, as well as new quiz The Tournament. She had a prominent role during the Euros where her match analysis earned rave reviews.
A source said: “Alex has enjoyed a meteoric rise since hanging up her boots. “She rates really highly in viewer feedback and it will be interesting to see how she fares doing a quiz. “
