Hearts star Alex Cochrane was pelted with missiles during the Edinburgh Derby against Hibs – including a portion of chips. Objects were thrown in the direction of the 22-year-old left-back from the home end during Sunday's clash at Easter Road.
Cochrane had stepped towards the touchline to take a throw in but was forced to retreat after being targeted by fans. And in amongst the objects was chips raining down from the stand and what appeared to be a lighter.
Referee John Beaton stopped the game briefly as the former Brighton youngster clutched the back of his head and neck. Sky Sports co-commentator condemned the incident and said: "I hope it's just chips and there's no coins or lighters." He also claimed a "bottle" was thrown onto the pitch after Lawrence Shankland gave Robbie Neilson 's side the lead before half-time.
The striker latched on to a delightful Barrie McKay pass and poked the ball under the advancing Marshall. But there were claims of a foul as replays showed the Scotland international striker may have handled the ball as he bore down on the Hibs goal.
