Just a few months ago in January 2023, Alec Baldwin was formally charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter involving the tragic death of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer on the set of his film Rust.
Now, word has spread that the charges are being dropped against the 65-year-old actor. Keep reading to find out more… Deadline reports that the paperwork will be filed soon, possibly today, clearing Alec “without prejudice.” This is an important distinction.
According to a US law site, “’Dismissed without prejudice’ means that a case is dismissed for now, but the prosecutor or the petitioner can still re-file the case at a later point.
By contrast, a case dismissed with prejudice is finally over and cannot be reopened or re-filed.” So, the charges could be re-filed against him, should investigations head in that direction once again.
