Alec Baldwin was dealt a major victory in the upcoming legal battle over the tragic death of Halyna Hutchins on the set of his movie Rust.
The 64-year-old star was charged with involuntary manslaughter in late January. If convicted, he could face 18 months in prison on that alone.
However, the charge was accompanied by a “firearm enhancement” carrying an additional five years in prison. Alec formally requested that the enhancement, which was not legally enacted until after the accidental shooting, be dropped from his charges.
