Aldi under fire after joke about Netflix hit Baby Reindeer

It's the latest series that Netflix viewers can't get enough of - Baby Reindeer. It follows the story of Richard Gadd, writer of the show, who used his experiences of being harassed as inspiration for the work.

The events in the show happened 10 years ago when Gadd was making his name on the UK comedy circuit and began being stalked by a woman he gives a free cup of tea to while working in a pub. The post, which refers to the other retailers as 'obsessed' and shows the woman, Martha, pointing at Gadd, says: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." It's had a massive response on social media, with many of Aldi's followers praising the retailer, which is well-known for making jokes online.

But others have taken offence to the remarks and accused the retailer of making fun of the issue. "So making memes about someone's experience of being stalked is Aldi's way of advertisement now?," said Paris Bella Riley. "Wonder if Aldi Will make a meme out of Ted Bundy's victims too."
