Twelve new Aldi stores will open across the UK in time for Christmas - including two in Greater Manchester. The supermarket, which opened its thousandth UK store in Woking, Surrey last month, is set to open an average of one new store a week between now and the end of the year.
New stores in Oldham, and Somerset, will open this month, following the opening of three new stores – in Slough, Torquay and Cannock – last week.
Meanwhile, towns such as Farnborough and West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire are set to see new Aldi stores open in November, and several other regions across the UK will welcome new stores before the end of the year. Each new store opening will create around 40 new jobs on average, boosting employment opportunities within local areas. Store assistants receive starting pay of £11.40 per hour and those based in London receive £12.85 per hour, while it is the only supermarket to pay for breaks, which can be worth up to £972 a year.
