Aldi has revealed the list of 'priority' locations that it is targeting for new sites across the UK - and it includes two Scottish towns.
The budget German supermarket chain has confirmed that it plans to open up 23 new stores over the next 16 weeks. Among the areas is both Clarkston, based in East Renfrewshire, and Cathcart in Glasgow.According to the retailer, it is looking to target locations that will be able to accommodate a 20,000 sq foot store with around 100 parking spaces.
They should also be near a main road with good visibility and access for its customers.It comes just days after Aldi announced that it was ramping up its rapid expansion across the UK with its largest ever investment package.
The grocer's plans will see it invest a record £800 million this year, which is part of an ambitious £1.4 billion two-year plan.Now the UK's fourth largest supermarket, Aldi currently operates 1,000 stores across the country.
