Over their long career Amy Ray and Emily Sailers have learned a thing or two, and now that so many of us have a bit more time alone with our thoughts, there’s no time like the present to hear out what they have picked up along the way.
Like its title, Look Long (★★★★☆) is just as much a mission statement as it is wise advice. The driving inspiration behind the album, according to Sailers, was to set out to find the balance between the need to acknowledge and grieve our shortcomings and limitations, but to also “look beyond what’s right in front of us, take the long view of things, and strive to do better.” This is an album
