Albion Rovers boss Sandy Clark is confident of keeping players’ player of the year Niyah Joseph next season – but understands why the striker could move on.Joseph, 23, netted 27 times as Rovers finished ninth in their maiden Lowland League season, and also took on the captain’s armband when Sean Fagan was snapped up by East Kilbride in March.Clark gets that the striker will be looking to see what his options are, but is confident he will remain at Cliftonhill. He said: “Niyah got the players’ player of the year, which you can appreciate.“Niyah’s a really good footballer, he scored a lot of goals for us, nearly 30, and that’s not easy to do.“His peers appreciated that, and they also appreciated that he did the role as captain really well after Sean Fagan left as well, so there are lots of pluses for Niyah for the season.“Niyah is trying to play the field a wee bit, which I totally understand.

He would like to go and try something new, and I don’t mean another team in the Lowland League, I think it would be abroad, or down south or something.“I totally appreciate young players wanting to take that option if they’ve got it and see what happens.“I’ve got a good relationship with Niyah, and if nothing else happens, I think there’s a fair chance of having him next season.”Club legend Ciaran Donnelly was inducted into Albion Rovers’ Hall of Fame on the same evening,Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onX via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
