Airdrie Harriers Track and Field Club took part in their fourth cross country event this month as events for 2022 kicked off.The event was held at Rawyards and followed on from the cross country event held at the end of last year.Runners of all ages took part in the event that tested each participant's fitness levels.The club and its athletes are involved in a number of tournaments and leagues already this year and this proved to be another successful outing.Millie Gairn and Eihlinn Gillespie were running for Team West of Scotland in the Inter District cross country at Irvine.
Gairn came in and finished 6th while Eihlinn placed 13th but they took the second place team prize.It was an impressive outing from the girls, who returned home second and fifth respectively for their team on the way to picking up silver medals.Elsewhere at the club, there have been participants heading into leagues such as the Scottish Athletics National Indoor Open.Roisin Smith senior was involved in the mixed 60 metres Band C event while Emma Whitle and Amy Wilton competed at Band F.Kate Fagan and Kate Hunter were involved in the Band I equivalent and Dione Maguinness featured in the Mixed High Jump Pool 4 event.Leanna Elliot was in the Mixed Long Jump Pool 3 alongside Enya Doran and Taylor More.
