Anna Tingley Airbnb has announced that they will offer temporary housing to people impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires. “To support residents who have been displaced from their homes or forced to evacuate by the wildfires, Airbnb.org is working with 211 LA, which serves Los Angeles County, to offer free, temporary housing,” an announcement on their website reads. “Stays are completely free for guests and are funded by Airbnb.org and the generosity of Airbnb hosts — many of whom offer their home for free or at a discount through Airbnb.org.” Airbnb also urges users to offer free or discounted stays to people impacted by the wildfire.
The housing marketplace will waive all service fees for Airbnb.org hosts and guests for the time being. Hosts who sign up can also share their home through Airbnb.org receive damage protection and liability insurance with AirCover for each booking.
You can also support people impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires and other crises globally by donating to Airbnb.org, with 100 percent of donations going towards providing emergency housing.
As of Wednesday afternoon, strong winds in Los Angeles are continuing to feed several fires in the area, with the devastating Pacific Palisades blaze causing more than 30,000 people to evacuate the neighborhood as well as parts of Malibu and Santa Monica.
