Air fryers have really surged in popularity in recent years – as they're efficient, easy to use and allow for amateurs to make delicious homemade meals.Some also get the appliances as they hope to be healthier than they would be when deep frying everything.
But while this is the case in some circumstances, it's not necessarily always true.Clare Andrews, who is a cookbook author and air fryer expert, highlighted this point recently.
After being gifted the appliance in lockdown 2020, she started posting delicious recipes online.But she wanted to bust the "common myth" that everything made in the air fryer must be good for you.
She told us: "While air frying can of course reduce the fat and calorie content of food compared to cooking with a deep fat fryer, it doesn't automatically make all the food you cook in your air fryer healthy."It still depends on the ingredients and the type of food being cooked.
