Elizabeth Wagmeister Chief Correspondent Hire Survivors Hollywood, an advocacy organization that works to end retaliation against survivors of sexual violence in the entertainment business, has landed a fiscal sponsorship, now allowing the organization to take donations towards its cause.

This is the latest step in Hire Survivors Hollywood’s expansion. The group was started by Sarah Ann Masse, an actor and a Weinstein survivor, who was one of the first to come forward with allegations against the former movie mogul.

Hire Survivors Hollywood started as a hashtag in 2017, and the initiative was formally launched in early 2020. Now, with the ability to collect donations, Masse hopes that Hire Survivors Hollywood will make even a bigger impact on the entertainment industry.

The organization encourages those in positions of power to pledge to hire survivors and Silence Breakers, both in front of and behind the camera, with the mission of creating more employment opportunities for survivors while creating a safer and more equitable industry. “We will be able to grow our talent database, develop industry specific trainings, provide expanded programming for survivors, and host exciting events all while ensuring that survivors of sexual violence are no longer retaliated against and offering them equitable access to work in their field of expertise,” Masse says in a statement to Variety.
