Watford star Adrian Mariappa has been revealed as the player that has contracted coronavirus. The 33-year-old centre-back is understood to be bemused as to how he tested positive and remains convinced that he has been following social distancing rules.
He will now self-isolate along with the two other staff members to have recorded positive tests. Watford want the Premier League to step in to reassure players at the club concerned by the latest developments.
Widespread testing took place across the top flight on Sunday and Monday at their bases. In total six positive cases have been revealed (0.8 per cent) from a total of 748 tests.
