Radio presenter Adele Roberts is skating onto the ITV rink for Dancing on Ice this year, with the cancer survivor making history as the show's first contestant to skate with a stoma bag.
Adele, who was diagnosed with stage two bowel cancer in 2021 and received the all-clear the the following year, now lives life with a stoma bag - a pouch on her stomach which allows waste to leave her body after losing part of her colon.
However, the presenter has revealed that skating without part of her bowel means that she faces a new disadvantage in the competition - she has to learn how to balance once again. "Being new to the world of stomas, I didn’t really know what to expect," she said. "I’ve realised that Audrey [which she calls her stoma] doesn’t like the ice.
She’s very quiet. She’s been a joy, actually. “I’ve noticed that because I’ve got a hole on the right side of my torso, I don’t have a centre where it used to be.
