Adam Kay thinks the government should’ve been investing into the NHS for 10 years before coronavirus struck to make it better equipped.
The former doctor, whose bestselling diary This Is Going To Hurt chronicles the years he spent working in hospital, opened up on the pandemic in GQ’s June issue.
Adam, who is an outspoken defender of the healthcare system, said a decade of ‘huge investment’ rather than the ‘opposite’ would have helped massively in dealing with the virus.
The comedian said: ‘I expect anything I say now will age very badly, but I think a system that is very stretched only has a small buffer. ‘A big stress, whatever it is, can cause it to fall.
