Peter Kay has spoken out to say he's 'delighted' to hear the BBC have decided to replay episodes of his award-winning comedy series Car Share.

The Bolton funnyman, who stepped away from the limelight in 2017, made a rare public statement on his official Facebook page after the move was confirmed by the broadcaster. "I'm thrilled, it really couldn't be shown at a better time," said Peter.

BBC bosses said they had been overwhelmed by the amount of requests to air the series, starring real life friends Peter and Sian Gibson as supermarket workers, with 34.8million people getting in touch to date during lockdown.

The series will air at 9.30pm from Friday 15 May on BBC One. All 12 episodes will also be made available from 15 May on BBCIplayer
