Aberdeen launch Graeme Shinnie red card appeal as club take VAR fury to the SFA after Ross County clash

Aberdeen have revealed they will appeal the red card dished out to Graeme Shinnie during the victory over Ross County. The Dons claimed their sixth in a row with Duk's strike enough to claim victory against Malky Mackay's relegation-threatened side, but the surge towards third in the Scottish Premiership was marred by captain Shinnie's red card late in the game.

Shinnie saw red for a challenge on Jack Baldwin after VAR Greg Aitken sent referee Euan Anderson to the monitor before the man in the middle deemed there was excessive force in the challenge.

Irate boss Barry Robson was left reeling at the full-time whistle as he insisted that Shinnie should not have seen red with the his player winning the ball.

Now the club are set to take the dispute to the SFA with a brief club statement reading: "The club this morning confirms it has appealed the red card shown to Graeme Shinnie during Friday night’s cinch Premiership match against Ross County.
