Saffron Mullen always struggled to have intercourse. Due to a rare anatomical problem, she was born with a blockage in her vagina.
The issue required surgery, but a procedure to fix the problem aged 23 only ended up making things worse. She was left with severe scar tissue - meaning sex was still impossible.
She had to wait years for a sexual therapy to become available that would fix it. In the meantime she had found herself battling debilitating fatigue and immune problems - a symptom later found to be caused by undiagnosed endometriosis.
She also suffered with a neurological problem in her oesophagus, called achalasia, which made eating and swallowing difficult.
