You may have heard that airports will be scrapping the 100ml liquids rule as new intelligent scanners are introduced at security gates.This will come as good news to fliers – especially beauty fanatics familiar with trying to cram a trip’s worth of toiletries into those small plastic bags.

But don’t get too excited yet. Although some UK airports have already rolled out these new machines, delays with others mean many travellers will still be faced with the old liquids rules, probably until summer 2025.

Luckily, I’ve spent many years packing all my beauty essentials while avoiding as many additional costs as possible, either from checked-in luggage fees or from buying products at the airport.
