£80 scamming subscription service holds over 600,000 people's stolen bank info

Criminals have been found selling a staggering number of stolen bank card information online. It is understood that scammers are able to gain access to software programs that allows them to more easily pinch vulernable peoples' card details for subscription-styled costs of around £80 per month.

The software has allowed criminals to steal the stolen information then sell them on to others via the dark web. According to cybersecurity company NordVPN, over 600,000 stolen bank card details from around the globe have been leaked online through this method.

Stolen details can also include a victim's name, their passwords and usernames, and files on their computer - extra data has been found in 99 per cent of cases.

The software is exposed to victims in the form of malware which makes its way into a computer and gains almost complete access to the system and the networks it's connected to. 'Malware is often used as a weapon of mass infection because the results are able to spread at scale, even for relatively unskilled people," said Adrianus Warmehoven, a cybersecurity expert at Nord VPN, to ThisIsMoney.
