Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.
Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.
Celtic this season. The campaign has come apart at the seams in spectacular fashion and it’s not a case of one or two things going against the Hoops boss – it’s nearly everything that’s gone to pot to Parkhead.Neil Lennon is the man carrying the can and there’s no doubt the manager has taken a few wrong turns.
But he’s not alone in taking the blame as the pressure of delivering 10 In A Row seems to have caused an implosion. They’ve not come in quick enough or simply not been good enough.
You can even go back to January. Patryk Klimala came in for £3.5m and although he might be one for the future, it’s hard to see how a counter-attacking pace merchant will ever fit in to a side that needs to break deep sitting teams each week.
