Boris Johnson has been warned he risks leaving "a generation of children languishing in poverty" after it was revealed 1.3 million babies and children under five are living in poverty in the UK.
New research from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the baby bank charity, Little Village, underlined how many children are being left behind.
The report found 34 per cent of families with one child under five live below the poverty line, meaning they survive on less than 60% of the median household income in the UK.
