Swedish football icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic will reportedly spearhead AC Milan's efforts to try to sign Bologna skipper Lewis Ferguson in January. The Scotland star - who recently returned from a serious injury suffered back in April - only penned a new deal with I Rossoblù last month that extended his stay at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara until 2028 after attracting interest from Serie A big boys Milan, Juventus and Napoli with his stellar displays in Italy's top tier.
But according to MilanLive.it, the San Siro giants will now renew their attempts to try to land the ex Aberdeen and Hamilton Accies midfielder, with legendary forward Ibrahimovic set to play an active role.
The ex Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester United goal machine finally hung up his boots at Milan at the end of the 2022/23 season, but returned to San Siro last year after the club's owners RedBird Capital Partners handed him a 'senior advisory' role with the Rossoneri.
The extent of the 43-year-old's influence at Milan remains unclear, but in typical Zlatan fashion, the towering Swede replied: "I am the boss and I am in charge, all the others work for me," when asked about his official capacity earlier this year.Earlier this week, Ferguson's agent revealed that the 25-year-old has no intention of leaving Bologna, with sides from the English Premier League also keeping tabs on the 12-time Scotland cap.
