Zayn Malik fans have successfully campaigned for Spotify to remove an Islamphobic song aimed at the singer. The former One Direction singer was the subject of the offensive song, Zayn Did 9/11, by parody artist Uma Kompton, who released the track back in 2017.

Fans realised that the song was available for streaming on Spotify and campaigned for its removal using the hashtag #RemoveItForZayn.

The song makes light of the terror attacks on 11 September 2001, when almost 3,000 people were killed in New York City and at the Pentagon.

By Sunday evening, it appeared the streaming service heard the fandom’s pleas as the song no longer appeared on Kompton’s artist page.
