Zac Efron will be stepping into the ring for his latest acting role.According to Deadline, Efron has signed on to star in The Iron Claw, a drama based on the Von Erich family, who created a dynasty that made a huge impact on the sport in their heyday in the 1960s until tragedy struck, again, and again.Fritz Von Erich, whose real name wasJack Adkisson, began his career playing a Nazi on the wrestling circuit in the 50s and 60s. Into the wring: Zac Efron, 34, has signed on to star in The Iron Claw, a film based on the Von Erich family wrestling dynasty, according to Deadline; Efron seen in 2017 The Iron Claw: The movie gets its name from the finishing hold Fritz Von Erich used in the ring; seen in 1963He later became a successful promoter for World Class Championship Wrestling.

With turns in “Gold” and “Firestarter” this year, Zac Efron continues to diversify his acting output and distance himself from his former teen heartthrob image. And Efron shows no signs of slowing down his drive to be taken seriously as an actor.

EXCLUSIVE: Days after announcing his next star studded comedy at Netflix, Zac Efron is continuing to build up his diversified slate as he is set to star in A24’s The Iron Claw, the latest drama from writer-director Sean Durkin. A24 is set to finance and produce the pic with Durkin writing and directing. Producing alongside A24 are Tessa Ross, Derrin Schlesinger and Harrison Huffman. The film was developed by House Productions, with the support of Access Entertainment, and BBC Films.
