Yutaro Oda to Hearts transfer 'agreed' as Robbie Neilson kickstarts January recruitment drive

Hearts boss Robbie Neilson has reportedly lined up his first January signing with Yutaro Oda expected to join from Vissel Kobe.

The 21-year-old impressed in the J-League last term as he enjoyed his breakthrough campaign with Kobe having come through the youth ranks at the club, and it appears the Tynecastle side have moved quickly to secure a move for the forward in the winter window.

Japanese outlet Hochi claim that a deal has been agreed with Hearts and a move to the Scottish Premiership is "expected to be announced soon." Oda has been capped by Japan up to under-21 level and racked up 21 appearances for Kobe in all competitions last term, playing as a winger and striker at various points throughout the campaign.

Neilson has remained coy on his plans for the winter transfer window but has stated the club are looking to recruit.Speaking ahead of the winer over Kilmarnock, Neilson said: "We don’t want to fully commit on one (player).
