The husband of a woman who was murdered by a man who she met on a night out in a “savage, sustained and merciless attack” has delivered a heartbreaking message to her killer.

A statement from Graham Hassall was read out at Swansea Crown Court during the sentencing of Brian David Manship. Mum-of-two Sarah Hassall, who was 38, had met Manship on a night out in Pontypridd in the Skinny Dog pub on October 5.

She returned to the 38-year-old's flat at Llys Graig Y Wion, Pontypridd, and the next morning, Ms Hassall, who served with both the RAF and the Army, was subjected to a furious attack by Manship, who stabbed her 22 times and slashed her seven times, before wrapping her body up in a curtain and fleeing, wearing her blood stained jeans.
