A horrified mum has refused to live in her new council flat after she discovered a used needle in her baby's room.Lauren Fleming, 21, her partner, Calum Murray, 21, and their one-year-old baby, Maisie, were due to move into their new home in Lanark, South Lanarkshire, this week.
But the family were met with horror when Calum discovered a dirty needle in one of their rooms. He had been cleaning a radiator with a hoover when it sucked up the hypodermic needle.Lauren, who has been waiting on the housing list for five years, told the Record: "We went in to clean the flat at the weekend and Calum did a full clean of the radiators.
As he was hoovering the middle of it, a used needle got sucked up."Callum emptied the hoover and it dropped to the floor. It was covered in blood."We were completely horrified.
It was found in the room we were moving my baby girl into. The needle could have fallen out at any time while she was in there."The mum claims that she previously asked the council to do a needle sweep at the property and claims she knew that the former tenant was a drug addict who had been suffering from hepatitis B.
