It would be very easy for a promising youngster to feel angry at having been released by Manchester United, especially having been told the devastating news over Zoom.
Instead, it is credit to Ethan Hamilton that he saw the end of his nine-year association as the perfect chance to launch the next chapter of his promising career, which now sees him as a key figure for Accrington Stanley.
Hamilton, 23, first arrived at United as a 12-year-old when he was spotted playing for prestigious Edinburgh club Hutchinson Vale, the same club where compatriot Darren Fletcher started his own youth career.
Despite being Edinburgh-born, Hamilton grew up as a huge Celtic fan, one who idolised the scoring talents of Henrik Larsson before appreciating the abilities of midfield maestros Shunsuke Nakamura and Scott Brown.
