Xbox customers are being urged to check their direct debits after it emerged hundreds may have been set up for a sold-out subscription.

Fans who tried to pre-order the new Xbox Series X at Smyths Toys and GAME this week have been told their credit scores may have been impacted - despite many of them missing out on the product.

Customers were told they could sign up for a new £25 a month subscription, which includes 100 games, via buy-now, pay-later service Klarna.

Hundreds took advantage of the offer, but some shoppers who were unsuccessful have discovered they've had direct debits set up by Klarna.
