X Factor contestant Phillip Blackwell risked being ‘identified as a rapist’ when he joined the ITV talent show’s nationwide tour 12 years ago.
Blackwell, 56, appeared on The X Factor back in 2008 and went on to join the show’s tour alongside the likes of series winner Alexandra Burke and boyband JLS.The former supply teacher was jailed for life on Monday, after pleading guilty to raping multiple women over three decades.
Blackwell committed 31 sexual offences against nine women over a 22-year period, with the court hearing how he was ‘happy’ to risk being identified by heading out on the X Factor’s post-show tour to achieve fame.
