Every night about 90 minutes after you fall asleep, your body will enter the REM - Rapid Eye Movement - cycle. During this state we will have about five dreams, but more often than not they will make very little sense when you wake up.

But the dreams you have can actually reflect scenarios or feelings you experience in your day-to-day life, so it's well worth keeping note of them.
