The world's oldest panda has died at the age of 38 years and four months at a Chinese Zoo. Xin Xing, hailed 'hero mother' for having 153 descendants, passed away on December 8 due to multiple organ failure.
Chongqing Zoo announced the news through a social media statement. They said the panda was born in 1982 and was sent to the zoo in 1983, where she lived for the rest of her life.
When Xin Xing turned 38 in August this year, Yin Yanqiang, the zoo's panda expert, said: "At 38, Xin Xing has reached the equivalent of about 110 to 130 in human years.
