Timothee Chalamet is set to bring the famous candy maker Willy Wonka to life in the upcoming musical Wonka.
However, he didn’t even have to audition for the part. The 27-year-old Dune actor made his official debut as the character in the newly released trailer this week.
During a recent interview, director Paul King explained why he knew Timothee was his only choice in terms of casting. Read more about Timothee Chalamet’s Wonka role… Speaking to Rolling Stone, Paul explained that there was no one else that he could imagine in the role.
He was so sure that he didn’t even have Timothee audition. “It was a straight offer because he’s great and he was the only person in my mind who could do it,” he explained. “But because he’s Timothée Chalamet and his life is so absurd, his high school musical performances are on YouTube and have hundreds of thousands of views.
