Woman who kicked 'mating' swans 'thought they were fighting so separated them'

Witnesses claim a woman accused of kicking two mating swans in a canal had thought they were fighting and was trying to break them up.

Footage shows the woman appearing to kick the birds before an older man tries to to intervene and is pushed into the water in Limehouse, east London.

Police are appealing for information about the woman and a man who was with her following the incident on Friday. The pair were part of a group of around 10 people gathered around the edge of the water.

Footage has gone viral of the woman apparently kicking the swans but witnesses claim that she was merely trying to break up a vicious fight between them.
