A woman who flew to Australia from London to see her dad before he dies of cancer fears costs will run up to £10,000. Terri Mercieca, 43, was told during the first lockdown that her Australian dad Phil only had 12 to 15 months as he was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
But despite desperate attempts to see him in person, lockdown rules kept scuppering her plans, MyLondon reports. Two sets of flights ended up getting cancelled and a refund was only apparently given when she explained what was going on.
By October, Phil was told his time had slashed to four months. "We needed to get back," Terri, who is in Australia with her partner, said.
