A woman has been slashed with a knife in a ‘frightening’ attack in Rochdale earlier today. At around 11.40am, officers received a report that the woman, in her 60s, was walking near to a path connecting Burnside Road, Rochdale to the canal, when she was approached by a hooded male wearing a mask, GMP have said.
The male then attacked her with the knife and fled the scene. The woman was left with minor injuries to her arm that did not require hospital treatment.
A GMP spokesperson said a 17-year-old male was quickly detained nearby by members of the public. He was arrested and taken to custody where he was subsequently detained under section 136 of the Mental Health Act.
