Woman, 36, given heartbreaking diagnosis just weeks after dream wedding

A newlywed had her world 'turned upside down' just months after the 'best day of her life'. Lauren Upshall tied the knot with partner Matt in July after initially having to postpone their big day due to covid.

In the months following the wedding, the 36-year-old was 'living her best life' and excitedly planning the future with her new husband - including picking out their honeymoon destination and talking about having children.

Lauren, from Heswall, told the Liverpool Echo : “We should have got married the year before in 2020 but obviously Covid stopped that, so we moved it to last year. “We got married in 2020 and it was the best day of my life - 3rd of July - it was the best day ever.“After that we were living like you do when you’re freshly married.

We went on a minibreak, planning to have children, just in a newly married bubble.”A short while after the wedding Lauren started to experience pains in her left breast, but she put it down to stress and assumed it would disappear given a couple of weeks.However, when the pain didn’t subside she decided it would be best to perform a thorough check of her body and breasts - admittedly unprepared for what she would find.Lauren said: “I checked myself for any differences and that’s when I found a lump.“I phoned the doctor straight away and was seen two days later before being referred two weeks later to a specialist and that’s when they diagnosed me with breast cancer.”Lauren went from being an active 36-year-old who loved running and the gym, never needing to use the NHS before, to suddenly visiting ‘every hospital and specialist in the whole of the Wirral’.Lauren added: "My world felt like it had crashed down around me."I was just living like how newlyweds do, we were
